Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)
With respect to current events and in light of reduced travel across the world — many less people getting from Point A to Point B these days, and rightly so. Stay in Place when you can! — Northern Towns Transport is suspending operations for the foreseeable future. Outstanding trips will be honored and rides will be provided at a future date, as our world returns to health.
At this time, we hope to resume operations for Labor Day / Back to School on September 1st, 2020.
You’ve Asked Us…
Northern Towns Transport is the preferred first call for planning your north land ground transportation, and we also arrange door-to-gate airport transfer in and out of Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) … Duluth International (DLH) … Gogebic-Iron County (IWD) …and even Sawyer International (MQT).
We are a regional car service and express shuttle provider serving Ashland, Wisconsin and other great northern towns in the Lake Superior Chequamegon Bay region, Minnesota and Michigan‘s upper peninsula. We answer the need for dependable, on-call regional transportation, available to bring both locals and visitors to and from hotels, airports, casinos, concerts, sporting events, private homes … and Big City dining and retail therapy.
(Northern Towns Transport is not a trucking company 🙂
Is There an Office Address or Pick-Up Location(s)?
For a minute we had a physical office with a waiting area to come in out of the cold. But several years back, we decided this was mostly unnecessary: Northern Towns Transport offers door-to-door (or door-to-gate) regional / airport transportation, by request, and at the total convenience of each family, student, group or passenger.
How Much Does it Cost?
Our service is provided by request, at an approximate average of $2 per mile. For specific indications of pricing, check out our cost guidelines for popular rides between great northern towns in the region(s) that we cover.

Can You Take Me to Wal-Mart?
No, afraid not. As much as we would love to, Northern Towns Transport is not a local taxi service. If you need a cab for getting around town, shopping or other chores, doctors’ visits or getting home after last call – LMGTFY.
Northern Towns Transport offers regional transportation solutions – welcome and convenient additions to the once-daily bus schedules only a few northern towns find themselves lucky to have.
How Do I Pay and Reserve a Ride?
After letting us know where you need to go, we’ll send you an invoice to pre-pay your rides (just like booking a hotel or buying a plane ticket). Once we receive payment, your rides are confirmed and a driver and vehicle are reserved for you on your date(s) of travel.
For your convenience, Northern Towns Transport accepts secure credit and debit card payments through PayPal. Simply respond to the invoice we send to your email. You don’t need to have (or establish) a PayPal account.
Can I Pay by Cash or Personal Check?
Our drivers do not carry cash and are unable to accept cash payments for rides. For TIPS, yes (and tips are of course, always appreciated!).
Company checks may be accepted for multi-ride trip-books and payments of corporate accounts. At this time, we don’t accept personal checks.
